This social experiment factual entertainment series watches them rise to the challenge of surviving without their life-support systems - with life altering results.

At the end of the programme, some participants find it a relief when things get back to normal - but for others the whole process is a revelation. Can a five-strong family survive without television? Will a man who has never ironed his own shirt cope without his wife? Will a family living on the convenience of ready-made meals and frozen food be able to resist the bright lights of the supermarket?
